Championing Women Leadership at All Levels
The Pan-African Women Political Leaders Movement (PAWLEM) is a transformative initiative dedicated to increasing the representation and influence of women, particularly young women and women with disabilities, in political leadership across Africa. We strategically empower aspiring and established women leaders from diverse sectors to break systemic barriers and reshape governance for a more equitable continent.
Empowering a Movement of New African Women Leaders.
The Pan-African Women Political Leaders Movement (PAWLEM) is a transformative initiative under the Women’s Academy for Leadership and Political Excellence (WALPE Africa) with a niche to increase the representation and influence of women, particularly young women and women with disabilities, in political leadership across Africa. Despite progress in gender equality, systemic barriers continue to limit women’s participation in governance.
PAWLEM strategically focuses on aspiring women leaders and women who have demonstrated leadership in business, public service, and civil society, equipping them with the skills, mentorship, and support needed to transition into political roles. Through capacity building, advocacy, protection mechanisms, and network strengthening, we create pathways for women to engage meaningfully in decision-making.
With focal point partners in each region of Africa, PAWLEM fosters an inclusive movement that empowers women to lead, influence, and transform governance systems for a more equitable and representative continent.
